College Scholarship 2003

2003 Scholarship Winner

The Scholarship Committee of the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando Foundation, Inc. (DACOF) has selected Georgina Threatt of Oak Ridge High School, as our 4-year college scholarship recipient for 2003. Eric Reinhold, DACOF Scholarship Chairman presented the E. J. Henderson Butkus Award ® Scholarship to Georgina on May 1st at Oak Ridge High School's Senior Awards Ceremony on behalf or the Foundation.

Georgina is ranked 4th of 420 at her high school with a 3.9 unweighted GPA. She is a member of the Varsity Weightlifting team and Captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad. She was a member of the Swim Team until the program was dropped. She is President of the National Honor Society and member of the Spanish Honor Society. She has participated in over 150 hours of community service this past year and has been accepted at FSU and plans to become a Pediatric Nurse.

This year's award is the first to be named for a Butkus Award ® winner, and brings the total of full-tuition scholarships awarded by DACOF to deserving Central Florida student athletes to twenty-five since the program's inception in 1985. Winners are chosen based on completion of an application and an interview with the Foundation Scholarship Committee.
